The water feed from the Fire Service pump is routed
to the Riser system by means of an inlet breeching
which is installed at Fire Brigade level on the
outside of a building.
Ideally the inlet breeching should be positioned as close as possible to the rising main in order to minimize pressure loss- a common problem when dealing with High Rise buildings.
It should be in an easily accessed location such as along a service road large enough for vehicular access and away from fallen debris or hazardous obstructions.
